Bitlocker "Access is denied"
Hi, I am trying to enable BitLocker on a Windows 7 Enterprise C:\ drive and the laptop that I am doing this on does support TPM. The problem is, when I go to the control panel>Bitlocker Drive Encryption> and tell it to turn on bitlocker for the C:\ drive; it gets past the TPM initialization and stops at "Please wait while Bitlocker initializes the drive" and below that says "Access is denied". Does anyone know what I could be doing wrong here? I did this on an exact same Windows 7 image and same model of laptop without any issues. Thank you.

TPM will initilize just fine; just cannot get Bitlocker to turn on.

Hi Stangride, To enable BitLocker with initializating TPM, we may run as an administrator on the Windows 7 computer. ScorprioTechNet Software Assurance Managed Newsgroup MCTS: Windows Vista | Exchange Server 2007 MCITP: Enterprise Support Technician | Server & Enterprise Admin | System Architect

Scorpio_Milo, I just logged in as "Administrator" and got the same result. This is the error I am receiving when I ask Bitlocker to turn "on". http://stangride.com/misc/Bitlocker_Access_is_Denied.PNG Thanks, Stangride

Hi Stangride, The issue was strange. Would you please reboot the problematic computer and then enter BIOS setting to enable TPM first for a trial? Hope it helps. I finally figured it out...whew! These files were malformed: 1) Bootres.dll 2) Winload.exe 3) Winload.exe.mui 4) Bootmgr Cause: http://www.coderforlife.com/projects/win7boot/, and was only an issue when we decided to enable bitlocker! Thanks

I had the same issue and fixed it by running the Windows 7 Repair Disc and choosing the "Startup Repair" option.
